The holiday shopping season is upon us, and the RNC want to make sure that shoppers don’t fall victim to what they’re calling real life Grinches.
Police say thieves will prey on distracted shoppers, so they’re offering tips to help keep people safe.
They recommend shopping with friends and family. If someone must shop alone, do so in the daytime. People should also secure their belongings, and keep their purses and wallets close to their body.
While in parking lots, shoppers are reminded to be aware of their surroundings, and to avoid distractions like cell phones while walking to the car.
As well, people should park in well-lit areas, lock their vehicles, and never leave valuables in plain site. If your vehicle is equipped with a proximity key, ensure it is locked before walking away.
