A stagnant trough of wet weather will dictate persistent rain over the Avalon Peninsula for the rest of the week.
Environment Canada meteorologist Wanda Batten says the rain started overnight over the eastern portion of the island and will intensify as the day wears on.
She says a rainfall warning is in place for the Avalon as a result.
She says the rain will pick up this afternoon, and remain intense through the remainder of the week. A rainfall warning is in effect for the Avalon from now to Thursday, but even then, the rainfall won’t stop, it will just ease up a bit. Rainfall amounts of between 60 and 80 mm are expected between now and Thursday. “A wet week in store” says Batten.
