Economists says Newfoundland and Labrador had the strongest economic growth in the region this year with an increase of 2.6 per cent in GDP.
The Atlantic Economic Council is holding its Outlook Conference at the Emera Innovation Centre at the Signal Hill Campus of Memorial University today with many sectors of the economy giving their overview.
Patrick Brannon, the senior researcher at the council, predicts that GDP in the province will grow by 2.9 per cent in 2025, largely driven by increased oil production.
However, the growth in Newfoundland and Labrador’s population will slow.
They expects the population growth to average about 0.4 per cent—or 2,500 people—over the next three years. The reason is because of the shift in immigration policy federally, which will slow growth, says Brannon.
