The Minister of Digital Government and Service NL says he did not yell a disparaging remark about nurse practitioners in the House of Assembly last week.
The comment in question was made during Question Period, in which the Registered Nurses’ Union thought they heard an off-camera MHA, later revealed to be Elvis Loveless, comment “poor NPs”—essentially mocking the situation that was being discussed.
According to Loveless, what he actually uttered was “more NPs,” referencing the need to recruit more nurse practitioners.
Loveless says he has spoken with RNU President Yvette Coffey about the misunderstanding, and the conversation went well.
He says the conversation later shifted to the importance of NPs, “where the conversation should be.”
