There has been a rash of vehicle thefts in the metro region in recent weeks and the RNC is warning the public that many of the incidents could have been prevented.
Constable James Cadigan was responding to situations this week where two were arrested in connection with two separate thefts of vehicles in the capital city.
Cadigan says that type of theft is largely a crime of opportunity.
“Most of these crimes are preventable. The commonality,” says Cadigan, “is that these are often crimes of opportunity with fobs left in vehicles or delivery vehicles left running. Those are the vehicles that we see being taken.”
