More than 200 cats in the metro region have been spayed and neutered in one day.
Avalon Animal Hospital operated on 222 feral cats this week, rounded up in the metro region by rescue groups including Amber’s Safe Haven.
Veterinarians gave up the entire day to operate on the felines at no cost, working well into the night to do so.
Amber Brown, who runs Amber’s Safe Haven, says a lot of the animals were colony cats that fear humans, so they had to be live-trapped and then housed.
They had three holding locations that they could use, and some of the cats were fostered out.
