A driver decided to take officers on a wild goose chase in what was supposed to be a routine traffic stop in downtown St. John’s.

RNC flashed the lights on the vehicle just before 11:00 yesterday morning, but the driver refused to haul over.

Officers were able to identify the man behind the wheel and managed to track his vehicle down a short time later, except the man had already taken off.

Police are still searching for the 24-year-old man on charges of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and flight from police.

The vehicle was seized.
