The island will remain under a northeasterly flow, which means there’s no immediate end in sight to the steady stream of rain, drizzle and fog seen for the last few weeks.
Environment Canada meteorologist Allison Sheppard says many areas saw some intense rain overnight including St. John’s which recorded as much as 55 mm over a 24 hour period.
Gander recorded about 50 mm of rain, and Bonavista saw 100 mm through yesterday and overnight.
Sheppard says while rainfall warnings have been lifted for the most part, the heaviest rain has moved off, but the RDF persists.
Areas of the northeast coast will see a return to heavy rain again tonight.
