Another municipality in the province is taking action on radon gas in the home.
The gas, which is odourless, tasteless and colourless, forms from uranium in rock.

Councillor Tom Davis, who represents Ward 4, told VOCM Open Line with Paddy Daly the city has acquired 500 kits—100 for each ward—to be provided free of charge.
Mount Pearl and Conception Bay South have launched similar programs in the past few months.
Envelopes will be part of the kits which can be sent to a lab to get the results within 90 days. The city will then get access to that data to see which parts of the city are affected. Davis says “around one third of the residents of CBS actually had a significant (reading) that needed to be remediated as soon as possible. Another third was cautionary.”
