RCMP on the west coast say charges are pending after a quantity of contraband cigarettes and crack cocaine was located in a vehicle that got bogged down while trying to run from police.
Police say a 47-year-old Deer Lake man was arrested after fleeing a traffic stop. While trying to get away, the vehicle became stuck in the mud and the man had to abandon the vehicle and leg it instead.
He was picked up a short time later.
RCMP say more than 150 cartons of contraband cigarettes, a quantity of crack cocaine, and items consistent with drug trafficking were located inside the vehicle.
The investigation continues and charges are pending.
