Striking postal workers have an agreement to deliver federal money cheques, but no such arrangement is in place for provincial payments.
CUP-W has been on strike for over a week, but from the outset, they were in unison with the federal government regarding cheque deliveries. All of those cheques were delivered on November 20 by union members.
However, Craig Dyer, President of CUP-W in St. John’s, says it’s a different story when it comes to the provincial system.
He says the Newfoundland and Labrador government said no to Canada Post about delivering money envelopes.
That said, the provincial government has put measures in place to ensure people can access their provincial benefits.
