The best curlers in the world, including defending Brier champ Brad Gushue and Olympic gold medalist Niklas Edin, are in St. John’s this week for a grand slam.
The KIOTI National, featuring 16 men’s and 16 women’s teams, starts Tuesday at the Mary Brown’s Centre. On the women’s side, reigning world champion Rachel Homan will be throwing rocks.
A limited number of tickets will be released today starting at 12:30 NST. The seats available are located in the suite level restaurant portion of Mary Brown’s Centre with premium views of the ice. Proceeds from these tickets will go to the Canadian Cancer Society’s Curl for Cancer initiative, benefitting Daffodil Place in St. John’s. Tickets will be available in person via the box office or by phone 709-576-7657.
The two championship matches start at 12:30 (women) and 5:00 (men), making for a busy Sunday downtown with the Santa Claus Parade set for 12:00, after being postponed yesterday.
