The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary have arrested a young boy in connection with those two violent assaults in Mount Pearl Friday.
A group of young people assaulted a male on Roosevelt Avenue around 5:30 p.m. Friday. Police located the victim and began the searching for the attackers. Shortly after, a second assault nearby occurred in which another man was attacked by the same group of young people.
Both victims sustained serious injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment.
Police arrested a youth now facing multiple charges, including aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, uttering threats, and disguise with intent. Police say the charges pertain to one of the two incidents, and further charges and arrests are expected.
Police believe there are witnesses or individuals with knowledge of the attacks and are urging them to come forward. Parents and guardians are encouraged to discuss the incidents with their children, as police seek additional information.
