The minister of Women and Gender Equality says the province isn’t where it needs to be in addressing intimate partner violence.
Minister Pam Parsons was on hand yesterday at a Confederation Building for a flag raising ceremony to mark the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.
She says the province has created committees to combat and ultimately end gender-based violence.
“One of the calls that we hear from stakeholders for years, even prior to my time in this office, was to call for a task force committee, and we’ve committed that. We’ve announced that as a government, and we are committed, as I mentioned, it actually has been established, we’re in the very early stages now, of the multi-departmental ministerial committee.”
