A second young person has been arrested in connection with two violent incidents in Mount Pearl late last week.
The assaults, which occurred in the Roosevelt Avenue area Friday evening, left two people with serious injuries.
The first arrest was made yesterday, and now a second person is in custody for their alleged involvement in the situation.
The first suspect faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, uttering threats, failure to comply with a release order, and robbery.
The second person has been charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, uttering threats, and robbery.
RNC Constable James Cadigan says more charges are expected as the investigation continues.
Cadigan states that the actions were “completely random” and calls the incidents highly unusual.
“This is unusual for any place at any time. This is a violent, random attack, and we certainly want to stress the importance of checking your children’s social media to ensure that if there’s information there that may be concerning, anything suspicious, and to talk to your kids to ensure that if they come across anything, or they’re aware of anything, that they share it with someone they trust, certainly a family member.”
The victims have since been released from hospital.
The accused are scheduled to appear in provincial court at a later date.
