Memorial University has been named as an official community partner for the 2025 Canada Summer Games.
Memorial’s recreational infrastructure, including the Aquarena and Field House, will serve as a core component of this summer’s games.
But it goes well beyond that.
Twenty-six buildings across MUN’s St. John’s campus will be used for the games for everything from sporting venues to athlete housing.
MUN president and vice-chancellor Neil Bose says MUN will serve as a home away from home for athletes, coaches, managers and trainers.
The university will also host provincial and territorial mission offices, medical and wellness clinics, media and broadcast centres, quiet areas and gathering places.
Canada Games Society Co-Chair Karl Smith says the event would be unthinkable without Memorial.
“It’s hard to imagine Memorial not being part of the games,” he said.
“We can’t imagine any other place that could accommodate all those people.”
