Newfoundland Power has earned a spot in Electricity Canada’s 2024 Centre of Excellence for ingenuity within the Canadian electricity industry.
The utility is being recognized for a pilot project in which AI-evaluated satellite imagery was used to help assess risks and analyze vegetation along 500 km of power lines to help prevent future outages caused by tree falls and the like.
President and CEO Gary Murray says they’re honoured to be recognized by Electricity Canada as an innovator in the utility sector.
Manager of Regional Engineering and Projects, Jacob Rodgers, accepted the award on Newfoundland Power’s behalf.
