RNC have laid charges in connection with a weekend incident that briefly closed Feild Street to traffic in St. John’s.
Officers were called to a home on the street around 10 a.m. Saturday following reports of a weapons offence. The property was contained, and officers established communication with the people inside.
Police got a warrant to enter the house, and at about 3:30 p.m. two men were arrested and taken into custody.
Thirty-four-year-old Justin Harvey is facing an assault charge, a series of gun-related offences and remains in custody. He was already facing other charges and will have them all called at the same time on Jan. 7th.
Nineteen-year-old Gamachu Hassan is charged with careless use of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and possessing a weapon with ammunition. He remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
