Residents of Mount Pearl will have an opportunity this evening to discuss their concerns surrounding a series of violent attacks in the community in recent weeks.
Seven young people have been arrested and charged in connection with two separate violent attacks on November 22nd that sent two victims to hospital, while four of the same group were charged in relation to a separate incident outside a Commonwealth Avenue restaurant in early November.
Mayor Dave Aker says it’s not about trying those arrested in the court of public opinion, but to find ways for residents to feel safer in their own community.
“We’ll be there to talk about Neighbourhood Watch and the things we can do as residents in terms of reporting crime. I think that’s really, really important” says Aker.
