Some 10,000 pounds of food and $5,000 was raised for local food banks during last weekend’s Downtown Santa Claus Parade in St. John’s.
Newfoundland Power had volunteers along the parade route collecting donations and the official presentation was made at the Community Food Sharing Association this morning.
President and CEO of Newfoundland Power Gary Murray says they’ve topped the $5,000 collected with a $25,000 donation, bringing the total amount to $30,000.
He says the donation and items collected will go a long way.
“With the $5,000 we collected, as well as the $25,000 donation that makes it $30,000” that, combined with the 10,000 pound of food, comes to a total value of $65,000 says Murray.
The donation marks 25 years of Newfoundland Power partnering with the Community Food Sharing Association.
