People are being asked to roll up their sleeves tomorrow to the annual VOCM Holiday Blood Drive.
The need for blood and blood products never ends and is particularly acute over the holiday period when fewer people are available to give the gift of life.
Canadian Blood Services is asking people to consider taking some time out of their busy pre-holiday preparations and donate blood.
Community Development Manager Gord Skiffington says the Christmas holiday period is a critical time for blood donations.
“There are not enough donors to keep up with the rising demand,” says Skiffington. “Currently, we see about 230 new donors across the country each day. We need to double that.”
The blood drive takes place at Canadian Blood Services on Wicklow Street in St. John’s tomorrow from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
