A woman well known in the not-for-profit sector has been charged with fraud involving a local violence prevention organization.
Forty-six-year-old Valerie Barter of Conception Bay South, is the former Executive Director of Violence Prevention Avalon East, and was recently named as the project manager for the Bell Island Support Network.
RNC say Barter is facing one count each of fraud under $5,000, uttering a forged document, and forgery.
The investigation continues and anyone with information is asked to contact RNC or Crime Stoppers.
