The health minister says the government is ahead of schedule in its plan to “rebuild” the health care system.
John Hogan was referring to Health Accord NL, the plan that was released publicly in early 2022 with a goal of transforming health care over the next decade.
Hogan says they are a couple of years into a 10-year plan, and it is “fair to say” that they are ahead of schedule, but there’s still lots to do.
Hogan says one of the most important things they’re continuously looking at is access to primary care.
He says family care teams are something they have been focusing on in 2024, and will continue to work on in 2025. He says they have 23 teams announced right now, 18 of which are up-and-running. As for the rest of the teams, they are now looking at the process of rostering patients across the province.
