Additional power capacity will eventually flow from the Upper Churchill to industry in Labrador, and talks will take place in that regard over the next several years.
There are many components of the four megaprojects which will be on the table for years to come. The main immediate task is to put the MOU in the form of a comprehensive document over the next year-and-a-half.
Labrador West, in particular, has been championing the need for an expansion of capacity in the region for years. Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro President and CEO Jennifer Williams says the twinning of the plant in Churchill Falls allows them to do just that.
She notes there will be talks with the industry about their plans for development in Labrador West.
