RCMP are encouraging people to participate in a survey to improve the policing model in the province.

Then-Justice Minister John Hogan announced the formation of the Policing Transformation Working Group in late 2023. It was a move that came as a surprise to First Voice, which had released a report on what it called the systemic issues within the RCMP and came with recommendations to phase out contract policing by RCMP in this province by 2030.

The role of the working group is to provide advice on an ongoing basis to ensure that residents receive the “most effective and efficient services possible.”

The survey, which is available online, is open until January 17.
