A man has been charged after taking off from police during an attempted traffic stop in Stephenville last week.
RCMP attempted to haul the vehicle over on Carolina Avenue around 1:30 in the morning on Christmas Eve, but instead of stopping, the driver floored it.
Officers found the vehicle in question stuck in the snow and mud near the dump, just outside Stephenville.
The 31-year-old man then decided to make a run for it, but didn’t make it very far.
The man has been released to appear in court at a later date on charges of flight from police and resisting arrest.
He was also issued several traffic tickets. The vehicle was seized and impounded.
