Health care and the cost of living were the two biggest focuses for the provincial government in 2024, according to the Premier.
On the cost of living front, while Andrew Furey says there is more that can be done, he highlights several initiatives government put in place to try to curb the effects of inflation.
Those include continuing with cuts to several taxes including the gas tax, taxes on insurance, and small business taxes, as well as cutting fees at motor vehicle registration.
On the health care issues facing Newfoundland and Labrador, Furey believes the province is starting to turn a corner.
He says the province has hired over 970 nurses and almost 200 doctors, there are no longer emergency room closures almost every day and they have expanded seats in the medical school and nursing school, and they have expanded residency programs.
