Funding from both the provincial and federal governments is important to the function of municipalities across the province, but for many the application process can be too onerous to navigate.

MNL President Amy Coady says those funding streams are “so important” in addressing things like infrastructure needs.

Accessing those funds require an application process, which as Coady describes can be challenging for some municipalities.

She says it can be quite competitive between municipalities, and the applications are often intensive and require a lot of data. She says a lot of towns don’t get to apply because they simply don’t have the time or data to do it.
