The first GST/HST payment of the year will hit the bank accounts of eligible Canadians tomorrow.
The benefit, aimed at helping those on the lower end of the income scale, is deposited four times a year. The next payment after that will be issued in April.
Meanwhile, the federal Carbon Rebate is also being shelled out in less than two weeks. Individuals in this province can expect to receive $149 on January 15, while a family of four will get a payment of $298. Those amounts are higher for those who qualify for the rural top-up.
Conversely, the carbon tax goes up by another 3 cents per litre April 1.
Most Canadians can expect to pay more in payroll tax this year with an increase in CPP (Canada Pension Plan) premiums.
A breakdown of amounts paid out to those eligible can be found online.
