A driving force behind the development of what is now the NunatuKavut Community Council (NCC) was laid to rest in North West River yesterday.
Chris Montague passed away on Dec. 28th, four days after his 76th birthday, following a long and difficult battle with Parkinsons disease.
Montague was a former president of the Labrador Metis Association, predecessor of the NCC.
He also led the change in name from the LMA to the NCC, which current president Todd Russell says better reflects their Inuit culture and heritage.
