It appears that some Facebook users in Newfoundland and Labrador have already started to receive deposits from a class-action lawsuit that included this province.
The direct deposit of $36.29 may have already appeared in bank accounts of some users.
The lawsuit involves Facebook users across in this province, as well as B.C., Saskatchewan and Manitoba, who had accounts between January 1st of 2011 and May 31, 2014.
The lawsuit claims Facebook, now Meta, affects users who at any time in that period were registered with Facebook using their real name, or had a profile picture that included an identifiable self-image, or both, and whose real name, identifiable portrait or both were used by Facebook in a sponsored story.
Electronic transfers of $36.29, part of the $51-million settlement, were issued to thousands of people who submitted a claim after being notified through the email address attached to their account.
