The RNC charged 18 drivers with impaired-related offences over a 12-day targeted traffic enforcement effort throughout their jurisdiction during the holidays.
A total of 22 vehicles were seized and drivers’ licences were suspended for a variety of offences ranging from impaired driving to excessive speeding.
Violators were nabbed in every corner of the RNC’s jurisdiction, including St. John’s/metro, the west coast and Labrador West.
The effort saw a number of people caught driving without a valid licence, insurance or registration.
Police noted they also encountered many drivers with blood-alcohol levels just below the legal 50-milligram mark.
