The provincial government is looking to beef up healthcare infrastructure in Labrador ahead of a number of hydro megaprojects that are looming.
An MOU signed between this province and Quebec on the Upper Churchill will pave the way for four major developments in Labrador, and an influx of thousands of workers.
That’s expected to result in a significant increase in demand for healthcare in the region.
Health Minister John Hogan says the issue is on their radar as they contemplate the full impact of future hydro development in Labrador.
He says more workers means a greater demand for services. Hogan says they have some time to plan for that, and they will make sure appropriate resources in health care are on site, and in communities.
