One week has been set aside to debate the Memoradum of Understanding reached between this province and Quebec on the Upper Churchill and future hydro projects.
A special session of the House of Assembly begins this morning at 10:00 to debate and question the agreement.
The three party leaders will be allotted a total of two hours each to speak, while the energy minister and the Opposition critic for the portfolio will have two hours each.
Remaining members of the House of Assembly will each have 40 minutes to speak on the MOU. Members can also choose to ask questions and receive answers during their allotted time.
Those involved in the negotiation and finalization of the MOU will be available for questions, but the questions posed must be relevant to the resolution.
Because negotiations are ongoing, members are being asked to refrain from asking questions “of a commercially sensitive nature” that could harm NL Hydro’s negotiating position.
