Gym memberships will be selling like hotcakes for the next few weeks as people try to get on track or back on track following the holidays.
The host of the VOCM Wellness and Healthy Lifestyle Show, Dr. Mike Wahl, says the first thing he tells people is never worry about what you eat or do between Christmas and New Year’s but think about what you do between New Year’s and Christmas.
The biggest question for somebody wishing to turn things around according to Dr. Wahl is “what is going to make the greatest impact on your health” as piling into the gym and going on a diet may not be the be the best thing for everybody.
Sometimes, ticking off a calendar on the wall might do the trick while others prefer constant electronic tracking of their activities.
“It’s the accomplishment that really makes the difference, so if you’re depriving yourself of something that makes you happy, I never think that’s the best recipe.”
