A long-standing void for residents of Fogo Island has finally been filled.

Scotiabank pulled out of the community in 2022, forcing people to take the ferry in order to get any major banking done.

The town got to work to secure another institution for businesses and residents, and the Atlantic Edge Credit Union is now open in the old Scotiabank location.

The grand opening is scheduled for tomorrow.
