A 47-year-old man living in Portugal Cove-St. Philips is facing a series of serious charges including assault with a weapon, kidnapping, robbery and discharging a firearm.

Police say the charges stem from an interaction between Aaron Manuel and a group of young people on Friday afternoon in which it’s alleged he fired a firearm.

There were no injuries.

Manuel was held in custody pending a court appearance.
