The province’s health authority is outlining its plans to move some health care services to a new ambulatory health hub in St. John’s, scheduled to open this fall.
Some services currently offered at the Health Sciences and St. Clare’s are moving to the new outpatient clinic in the old Costco building in the east end.
It’s hoped that the move will help to reduce traffic at city hospitals and expand a number of critical inpatient services like emergency, surgery and cardiology.
Renovations on the building, which includes a second story, are underway. Services making the move include audiology, blood collection, central bookings and certain medicine and surgery specialist clinics, while a new pain clinic will be added to help people suffering with chronic pain.
