The Town of Stephenville is offering clarification on the recent sale of an industrial property in the town to World Energy GH2.

Callers have raised questions about the sale to VOCM Open Line and on social media.

The town says the sale was approved in December of 2023 in response to a Request for Proposals issued by the town.

Discussions are ongoing, and the sale has not yet been finalized. As a result, says the town, no payments related to the sale have been made because the deal has not yet closed.

The town says it is open to responding and providing what clarification it can to questions raised by the public, but because the matter is still under commercial negotiation they are limited in what they can say at this time.

CAO Bill Ramsay says they understand the public’s interest in the sale and are committed to completing the transaction “as swiftly as possible.”
