We now have more detail on just what that new medical facility in the old Costco building in St. John’s will entail.
It will house some of the facilities and services currently present at the Health Sciences and St. Clare’s, including the eye clinic.
It will also include a new pain management clinic. Dr. Greg Browne, a senior medical director with NL Health, says the clinic will include a fluoroscopy machine which will do specific injections for patients, resulting in a huge increase in capacity.
There will also be lab, basic x-ray, ultrasound, some cardiac diagnostics, EKG…”virtually any service where a person can walk or wheel in and leave again the same day,” says Dr. Browne.
The ambulatory care clinic will also include an “urgent” care facility—different from an emergency room where the most extreme cases are treated.
The facility is expected to open in the fall.
