Another long-time MP and federal cabinet minister has announced her intention not to seek reelection the next time Canadians head to the polls.
Gudie Hutchings, the member for Long Range Mountains, posted a statement to X this morning indicating that she does not intend to seek reelection, but she will stay on until the next election is called.
She offered her thanks to voters in the riding for placing their trust in her over the years.
Hutchings was elected in 2015 and since then has held a number of portfolios, including Rural Economic Development, and as the minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency.
