Emergency Services is currently in the initial stages of assessing whether to activate the Newfoundland and Labrador Disaster Financial Assistance Program as a result of last weekend’s powerful winds and storm surge.
The province is expected to make a public announcement should the assistance program be activated.
That would mean that residents and municipalities may be eligible for financial help to address damage.

The department is asking that affected communities, residents and businesses contact them to report any damage in their area.
It is not known at this time whether the assistance program will be activated.
