The provincial government has received five brand new snowplows that will replace older ones in the provincial fleet, and there are many more on the way.
$25-million per year for the next four years was announced in the 2024 provincial budget for the heavy fleet renewal program.
The five new rigs are part of 64 plow trucks expected to arrive this season.
Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Fred Hutton says the plan is for the rest of the plows to be in service this season.
He says delivery has been a bit slower than they’d like, but the hope is to have all 64 dispatched to depots across the province this winter season.
