Three people were arrested and a number of items seized including cash, drugs and jewelry following drug busts in St. Anthony and Goose Cove on the Northern Peninsula on the weekend.
RCMP from the St. Anthony, Roddickton and Port Saunders detachments descended on two homes around 1:00 Sunday morning—one on Cabot Street in St. Anthony, and the other on the Main Road in Goose Cove.
Officers allegedly found 43-year-old Ryan Ricks of St. Anthony actively trying to get rid of cocaine when they entered the Cabot Street home. Bags containing cocaine residue were recovered by police and seized along with cash, ammunition, drug paraphernalia and what’s being described as an expensive and elaborate piece of jewelry which is believed to be part of the proceeds of crime.
Ricks was charged with trafficking in cocaine, possession of the proceeds of crime over $5,000, and possession of ammunition while prohibited.
Meanwhile, 30 grams of cocaine was seized from the Goose Cove residence along with other items. A 59-year-old man and 53-year-old woman were arrested and released with charges pending.
