Fire consumed an iconic building in St. Anthony last night. The blaze broke out Wednesday evening in one of the town’s last original Grenfell Mission buildings, which was being used by the local Boys and Girls Club.
MHA Krista Lynn Howell says the town is hurting with the loss of the building, but fortunately, there were no injuries.
Tucker’s Lane to Marine Drive was closed to traffic while firefighters attended to the scene and mopped up hot spots.
Residents of the nearby MAC building were asked to leave out of an abundance of caution, and town officials opened the council building to the public as a warming centre.
