The search and recovery effort for a woman who was swept out to sea at Cape Spear on Wednesday has been suspended for today due to weather conditions.
The woman and man were down near the water when a wave swept them both off their feet. The man managed to scramble back up over the rocks, but the woman was pulled out to sea and hasn’t been seen since.
RNC are asking the public to report anything unusual in the water or along the coastline.
Parks Canada is offering its condolences to the family involved and is reminding the public to heed signs at the site and not to venture beyond established trails because of the unpredictable nature of wave action in the area.
