A group with serious questions and concerns about proposed hydrogen production developments in this province say they’re not being heard by the provincial government.
Brenda Kitchen was part of a demonstration outside the Confederation Building last fall, during which she brought a full-sized boat to the steps of the House of Assembly in protest.
She’s now facing a handful of charges, including resisting or obstructing a peace officer and breach of regulations, for which she’ll appear in court in February.
In the meantime, she’s been trying to meet with government officials but hasn’t been able to set up a meeting.
Kitchen says meaningful engagement is lacking, and the current system isn’t working.
“But somewhere along the way, they forgot that meaningful engagement is a two-way conversation; where I talk, and you talk, and we share ideas, and then we come up with the best solutions together. But our government seems to think that meaningful engagement is just submit your questions online. Questions that you never get answers to.”
