As provincial election speculation swirls, the leader of the New Democrats is warning that an early election at this critical time would amount to “a dereliction of duty.”
It’s widely speculated that Premier Andrew Furey could drop the writ as early as tomorrow, sending Newfoundlanders and Labradorians to the polls next month.
The NDP’s Jim Dinn is warning that with Trump tariffs looming, it would be “unacceptable for the Premier to continue to be coy about whether he will be calling an early election.”
He’s asking for a commitment from the Premier that he will respect the fixed date law and focus on protecting local jobs and the economy.
