One man has been arrested and taken into custody following a police operation in Carbonear this afternoon that resulted in a directive for residents to shelter in place.
RCMP and its tactical unit descended on Adelaide Street early this afternoon, blocking access to the road and asking area residents to stay in their homes.
Harbour Grace RCMP reported shortly before 3 p.m. that one man was in custody, and residents were free to resume their normal activities, although police are expected to remain on scene as they continue their investigation.
