The mayor of Torbay is among those paying tribute to a well known municipal councilor and sports hall of famer.
Ward Gosse passed away unexpectedly this week. He was 56 years old.
A native of Bay Roberts, Gosse later moved to Torbay where he sat on the town council.
Mayor Craig Scott says not only was Gosse a superior athlete, making a mark in softball and senior hockey, he also cared deeply and worked hard for his family and town.
Scott calls Gosse’s passing a terrible shock. He says Gosse might best be remembered for his storied sports achievements, but he was also a dedicated public servant.
A lot of people may not realise just how dedicated Gosse was when it came to town matters – “volunteering, and his willingness to give up his time” says Scott. “He was a very level-headed guy, pragmatic, and always seemed to have the town at heart.”
